Top ten players of 2011/2012

My first post on this blog is a review on the top players of the season 2011/2012. Last season was great, we saw exciting games (Borussia Dortmund vs Stuttgart 4-4), experienced stars rising to glory (Ramires) and witnessed the breaking of records (Goals scored in one season, 73 goals, Lionel Messi). Anyway, I will write a description to every player on the list.

10. Sergio"Kun"Aguero (Man. City, Argentina, 24 years, ST, 30 goals, 12 assists)

Aguero is an outstanding player. The only thing he is missing is the Champions League title. He's won the Europa League with Atletico Madrid, the F.A. Cup and the league titles of both Spain and England have been secured. Last season was despite the early boot to the international competitions, a very successful season for both him and City. Without Aguero, City might have had even more struggle. He played a big part with the previously mentioned 30 goals and 12 assists. But because of his form internationally he's only 10th.

9. Karim Benzema (Real Madrid, France, 24 years, ST, 32 goals, 15 assists)
K. Benzema has finally shown what he's made of. With 32 goals and 15 assists in all competitions, he helped C. Ronaldo on the mission of goal-scoring. Last season he won the League with R. Madrid, having a lead of  9 points over Barcelona. Although his statistics show a lot he is not going to outshine C. Ronaldo plus he missed out on the Champions league and the Copa Del Rey. WIth France he had a respectable Euro, although the results weren't anything compared to other french tournament results. Sadly Benzema will not be in the top 5 if he hides in the shadows of C. Ronaldo and L. Messi

8. Robin van Persie (Arsenal, Netherlands, 29 years, ST, 37 goals, 15 assists)

Van Persie had a great season if you look at his personal statistics. He's a great player and he does what he has to do, score. He scored in  the big games and also assisted  the scorer multiple times. Van Persie did so well, he became top scorer of the Barclays Premier League and was being chased by half of the world. The problem was and is that his team is not doing nearly as well as he himself. Arsenal had no real chance at the Champions League title, F.A. cup was finished by the round of 16, League Cup was a flop and they ended the league at 3rd place. Van Persie therefore can't be that good because otherwise he could carry the team to at least one title. Plus, his Euro performance was not to be described in words.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar 2011-08-03-2.jpg
7. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (Schalke 04, Netherlands, 28 years, ST, 48 goals)

Huntelaar was the surprise of the 2011/2012 Bundesliga season. Everyone new he was good, but nobody would have ever thought that he would score 48 times in 47 games at such a high level. He was amazing in the Bundesliga, considering his circumstances at Schalke 04 (mediocre team). He made the best of everything. He won lots of goal-scoring awards such as Topscorer of the Bundesliga Season 2011/2012. He's not higher because he only won the DFL Supercup with Schalke 04. He fell out of international competitions in the Quarter-Final and could only grab 3rd place in the League. The worst part is his performance at the Euro 2012. He was horrible. But I will let it slide because he played so well the rest of the season.

6. Wayne Rooney (Man. United, England, 26 years, ST, 35 goals)

Rooney is a phenomenal player, to me he can be the best striker in the world depending on form. This year his form was ok, not great, but ok. He didn't win anything except for the F.A. community shield. He still was a great player having a great season, even without any major trophies and he still competed at the top of the table. Goals were not the problem this season, which can be clearly noticed if you look at the statistics. He also played a better Euro than a lot of european stars such as  van Persie and Huntelaar. I believe that he was still the 6th best player of last year because he never showed bad form like a lot of these players did.

5. Ramires (Chelsea FC, Brazil, 25 years, CM, 12 goals, 6 assists)

Ramires is the first player on this list who is no striker. This shows how much ability he must have to get in here and even be 5th. Last season Chelsea started bad but then Di Matteo changed everything. He brought Chelsea back to life and won the Champions League with them. Ramires was a big part of that. He played good 80% of the time and showed his skills. When he came to England, I thought he was a flop, but now I notice he's a very talented, ambitious player. That is why he is fifth, of course the big triumph in Champions League is also a reason. You can see his quality in the goal he scored against Barcelona. There you can see how good he is.

DidiFinale12.jpg4. Didier Drogba (Chelsea FC, Cote d'Ivoire, 34 years, ST, 13 goals, 4 assists)

Drogba's last season at Chelsea was a special one. It looked like his last season would be one of his worst, but all that turned around when they won the Champions League thanks to him. Drogba didn't score much last season but when he did it was meaningful. He brought the trophy home, without him Chelsea wouldn't have won it. He will stay a hero because of that win he brought home in the least expected time you can think of. Everybody knew of his quality, but after all the years he failed to win that trophy everyone thought it was over. Right then he renewed  his strength and quality to win the CL and save a chunk of the League.

Mario Gómez, Germany national football team (07).jpg3. Mario Gomez (Bayern München, Germany, 27 years, ST, 41 goals)

Gomez doesn't win much with Bayern M. He stood in three decisive games and all of them went the wrong way, yet somehow everybody knows how good he is. In every game he shows us what he can do and his statistics are here to prove it. He was so close to all these things and lost all, but it turned out to be very good season by him. At the Euro 2012 he also had a lot of beautiful moves, so people know that he's a remarkable player.

2. Cristiano Ronaldo ( Real Madrid, Portugal, 27 years, ST, 60 goals, 15 assists)

C. Ronaldo is my number two. He had another great season and won a lot of prizes. He mostly was responsible for Real Madrid's wins. He also showed a good figure at the Euro 2012. The man is technically a god and he's getting better every year, but I don't think he has reached the level of Messi yet.
He scores more and more and achieves more and more every year. Next year he will probably be back in the Champions League final. Who knows, maybe then he'll be number one on my list. It won't be long though, soon they will really be of exactly the same quality.

Lionel Messi Player of the Year 2011.jpg

1. Lionel Messi (Barcelona, Argentina, 25 years, ST, 73 goals, 29 assists)

Messi is to me the greatest player on earth and I must say he's almost like an alien. His statistics are breathtaking, his moves and shots simply clever and he completely deserves the number one place on all Top Ten Player Lists because he works hard to be a great player. Even if he hardly won anything, he still remains the undefeated number one of soccer. There's not much to say, you all know him and you all know his playing style.

So goodbye, I hope you  enjoyed my first top ten post.

Yours,

Yor
